WHY JOE EDDY? WHY NOW?
West Virginia stands at a crossroads
Rich in heritage, natural beauty, resources, and strong communities, yet facing economic, educational, and health challenges that require bold, innovative solutions. To ensure a brighter future for all West Virginians, my platform for the State Senate is built upon a foundation of opportunity, responsibility, and practical leadership. I aim to honor our past while forging pathways to progress for every resident of this great State.
My commitment is simple

West Virginia’s economy has traditionally relied on coal, manufacturing, and agriculture. Today, and in the future, we must diversify the use of our energy resources and modernize our economic base.
Prioritize Job Creation: Supporting small businesses, investing in innovation and entrepreneurship, and recruiting new energy intensive industries.
Workforce Development and Retraining: Partner with community colleges, trade schools, and employers to provide job training and apprenticeships in high-demand fields such as advanced manufacturing, health care, information technology, and industries of the future, such as artificial intelligence.
Tax Reform: Advocate for a phased approach to reducing, and ultimately eliminating, the personal property tax on business inventory, machinery, and equipment. This reform will make West Virginia more competitive for manufacturing and energy investments, lower costs for local businesses, and encourage job creation and economic growth by removing a key barrier to existing business expansion and recruitment of new businesses.
Modernizing Infrastructure: Invest in roads, bridges, broadband internet, and clean water projects, particularly in underserved rural areas, in order to attract new businesses and to improve safety, security, and quality of life.
Energy and Manufacturing: Protect and promote our secure, reliable supply of affordable energy with responsible development of electrical, natural gas, natural gas liquids, clean coal and hydrogen technologies that power business and industry. Support development of downstream chemical and manufacturing industries, such as plastics processing, in order to realize the true value of our natural resources.
Tourism and Outdoor Recreation: Promote West Virginia’s parks, rivers, trails, and cultural events to expand tourism jobs, increase revenues, and investments in local communities.
A strong West Virginia depends on quality education from cradle to career.
Invest in K-12 Public Schools: Support well-funded public education and affordable childcare to help working families.
School Choice: Advocate for policies that empower families to choose the best educational setting for their children-whether public, private, charter, or homeschooling-to ensure that children in West Virginia have access to quality education tailored to their needs.
Promote Career Track Education: Support increased partnerships between middle and high schools with Community and Technical Colleges and local business and industry.
Make Higher Education Affordable and Accessible: Protect funding for in-state scholarships and grants and promote access to community colleges and trade schools.
Adult Education and Literacy: Expand adult education programs to support lifelong learning, workforce retraining, and digital literacy.
West Virginia faces significant health challenges, including high rates of chronic diseases and substance abuse, as well as barriers to care in rural areas.
Expand Access to Affordable Health Care: Increase funding for rural clinics, incentivize health professionals to live and work in underserved communities, and expand telehealth services.
Combat the Opioid Crisis: Fund prevention, treatment, and recovery programs; support harm reduction initiatives; and invest in mental health resources.
Promote Preventive Health Care: Launch public health campaigns for nutrition and physical activity and promote school- and community-based wellness programs.
Support for Seniors and People with Disabilities: Strengthen in-home care, meal delivery, and transportation services to help seniors and individuals with disabilities live with dignity.
I envision communities where every resident feels safe, secure, and supported.
Public Safety: Support law enforcement, emergency services and other public service and security agencies with resources and training.
Housing Affordability: Expand affordable housing options and support for first-time homebuyers.
Community Development: Encourage local leadership in revitalizing downtowns, supporting arts and culture, and creating shared spaces such as parks, libraries, and youth centers.
Our mountains, forests, and rivers are West Virginia’s greatest natural treasures. We must protect them for future generations.
Clean Air and Water: Enforce regulations to keep our air and water safe, invest in wastewater and drinking water infrastructure, and hold polluters accountable.
Land Conservation: Support state parks, wildlife management, and voluntary conservation easements to preserve natural beauty and recreational opportunities.
Weather Resilience: Prepare for floods, landslides, and other weather-related events with smarter land use, emergency preparedness, and infrastructure upgrades.
West Virginia’s story is one of resilience, adaptation, and deep-rooted pride. From honoring our veterans to protecting our unique Appalachian heritage, we are committed to policies that celebrate who we are while preparing us for the challenges ahead.
Veterans and Military Families: Expand services and job opportunities for veterans; support military families with education, health, and housing programs.
Celebrating Heritage: Invest in Appalachian cultural events, historic preservation, and the arts to keep our story alive for future generations.
I promise to provide a strong, independent voice in Charleston to protect those who value hard work, family and community. I will fight for high-paying jobs, quality education, accessible and affordable healthcare, and a brighter future for all West Virginians.
